This is a Rainbow Obsidian crystal skull. This is a naturally occurring volcanic Obsidian. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. This particular one has been here charging with Synergy for 12+ years.
Deep black obsidian is accented by subtle colored sheen and stripes/layers that become visible from different angles, especially under a bright light source. The striped layers are best visible in the sides of the head. The sheen is more visible in the top and underside of the head. It shows up from different angles and under a bright light source. In the top of the head it is mainly a lighter purple color, with hints of green-ish gold around the edges. In the underside it has a lot of gold-ish green-ish. It picks up different colors depending on the lighting (natural vs. fluorescent vs. LED) and background it is against (light vs. dark).
The best quality obsidian often forms beneath the Earth's surface, around volcanic vents. Silica-rich magma squeezes into rock fractures or fissures to form layers and lenses of Obsidian that are relatively free of dirt, ash and other impurities that are commonly found around volcanoes.
Sometimes, little air bubbles or faint ash deposits are left behind when the Obsidian cools, leaving small organic spots behind if they are close to the surface as the stone is polished. They can resemble small fine lines, spots/"freckles", or tiny indents/pinpricks and you may be able to feel them subtly as you run a finger over them. The main example is on top of the head, toward the left side, and is a small indent. The price has been adjusted accordingly.
