This is an incredibly amazing, HUGE, Brazilian Amethyst Geode Crystal skull! Absolutely stunning. The 3rd largest Amethyst Geode skull we've ever had. She weighs approximately 20lbs 4.5oz. WOW! It normally retails for $9,000+ dollars.
We generally don't name skulls that are seeking their new caretakers. That is something that we feel is a special experience between crystal skull and caretaker. But in some rare cases a name is so strong that we will include it. That is the case with this crystalline being, whose name is PHILOMENA.
She weighs approximately 20lbs 4.5oz / 9.2kgs and measures just over 10 1/2" inches long X 6 3/4" inches wide at the widest point X just over 7 5/8" inches tall at the tallest point. Code020623-20697
The Amethyst has several shades of purple mixed together and runs all the way through the center of the skull. The Amethyst fades into an Agate "rind". The "rind", or outer shell, on this particular Geode was heavily made up of Agate, which is visible throughout as dark blue-grey with subtle banding in lighter blue-grey shades, white/cream, and hints of golden yellow/orange. Subtle thin bands of green CHLORITE are present here and there, with a larger green spot visible in the right eye socket. Tiny brown and black DENDRITIC inclusions are mixed into the Agate in several places. Though they can resemble tiny plant-life, they are made up of Iron (brown) or Manganese (black). Besides the large Amethyst lined central vug, there are several others throughout. Including in/around the jawline on the left side, in the side/back of the head on the left side, and a trio of particularly interesting ones in the right side of the head around the "wing" of the cheekbone. These 3 came from Calcite, a much softer stone, that grew with and into the Agate at one point. Over time, it dissolved, leaving behind these cool cavities! If you eamine them closely, you'll be able to see the shape of the Calcite crystals and some formations that were on the surface as they grew.
The Amethyst crystals inside the giant VUG in the middle of the skull have such beautiful sparkle! Some have reddish orange HEMATITE inclusions visible, while others even have tiny shimmery areas or hints of rainbow sheen that show up in bright light as you move the stone around in your hands. When you flip the skull over, you can see that the Amethyst runs all the way through! I particularly like the "bridge" of crystals running across the forehead/3rd Eye area.
Photos can NOT possibly show how stunning this skull is (although we do our best to bring the vibration across!). It is so much nicer 'in person'!
Besides the vugs, and the edges of the vugs, there are some small organic spots here and there from inclusions that were close to the surface as the skull was shaped. They may resemble pinpricks, small notches, or fine lines on the surface of the stone. ALL inclusions present come from 100% natural formations within the stone.
Geodes are used to assist in effective communication and are said to facilitate astral travel. They are also thought to aid in the study of mathematics.
Chlorite - Chlorite inclusions combine with the energy of the quartz crystal, forming what many believe are one of the most powerful healing crystals available. It is used to stimulate inspiration that one can take action on. They are also used to connect to Angelic Beings and Guides.

Amethyst is also associated with Angels and is an excellent stone for meditation or dream work and past life work. It has been used to protect against psychic attacks, but is not as effective alone, as when used with other protection stones.
Amethyst has also been used to help ease the pain of grief. It is reputed to be useful when working through money issues and legal problems.
It’s also been called a stone of prosperity and abundance.

All forms of Agate are felt to be potentially powerful stones.
They are said to impart courage and increase energy levels in bursts, and so may be used when a big ‘push’ is needed.
Agate is used to enhance creativity and stimulate the intellect, and has been favored by students and artists.
It is considered a stone that brings good luck and is very calming and soothing. Agate may bring increased feelings of self-confidence and lessen feelings of envy, by grounding the energy and the emotions.
Agates are felt to support one’s love of, and harmony with, Nature.
Agates are the most well known stones for balancing the subtle energies and to assist with protection, (especially of children.)
Agate in general is a stone of inner harmony. It's thought that when you bring yourself into a place of inner harmony, the result can be an enhanced ability to heal oneself.
