This listing is for ONE (1) small polished RUSSIAN SHUNGITE sphere. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. Although Shungite looks similar to Hematite or Jet, it is NOT either of those stones. Shungite is a very special and unusual mineral! It is a great personal protection stone. It's black with an almost metallic lustre. Some areas may have subtle white and metallic gold inclusions (AKA "Golden Shungite"). The largest deposit in the Earth comes from the Karelia region of Russia. Shungite contains fullerenes (this fact and mineral were discovered in 1992). The scientists that discovered fullerenes were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996 for their role in the discovery of these fascinating molecules.
Each has been carved and polished individually, so they all vary slightly (by a millimeter or two). In general they measure approximately 18mm / 3/4" inch across.
The price of Shungite has gone up this year, all across the globe. The family I work with told me again this winter that it's because it has become more difficult to get the rough material due to a high demand for it.
There are subtle organic areas throughout from inclusions that were close to the surface as the stones were polished. They mainly resemble fine lines/linear indents, small notches, or tiny pinpricks/indents in the stone. ALL inclusions present are 100% natural parts of the stone.

From Wikipedia: "A fullerene is any molecule composed entirely of carbon, in the form of a hollow sphere, ellipsoid or tube. Spherical fullerenes are also called buckyballs, and they resemble the balls used in association football (AKA soccer). Cylindrical ones are called carbon nanotubes or buckytubes. [...] According to astronomer Letizia Stanghellini, "It’s possible that buckyballs from outer space provided seeds for life on Earth.” The discovery of fullerenes greatly expanded the number of known carbon allotropes, which until recently were limited to graphite, diamond, and amorphous carbon such as soot and charcoal. Buckyballs and buckytubes have been the subject of intense research, both for their unique chemistry and for their technological applications, especially in materials science, electronics, and nanotechnology."
Shungite is sometimes said to be the "Stone of Deep Secrets” and it is often used for connecting with Mother Earth. It is thought to facilitate a link to the very ancient past of this planet, and to the history of humanity, as well as of other species that once lived on the earth.
Shungite is thought to promote good health and vitality as well as boost healing abilities. For this reason it is a great addition to any energy work or healing practice.
It is also considered to be an excellent and indispensable personal protection stone because it works to stop outside influences, and is thought to help one center themselves and restore balance between the physical and subtle bodies.
In Crystal Healing, it is used to increase overall healing abilities.
It is associated primarily with the Root Chakra, but may be used with any.
Native legends speak of crystal skulls as an inheritance from ancient times. Said to “talk and sing” they are believed to carry messages for all mankind, including what may be discovered when we overcome our fear of death.
