This is a cool Ruby crystal specimen from Mysore, India. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. This is a natural specimen, it has not been polished. It is hexagonal (with 6 sides), and formed this way naturally. It has a deep purple-ish red/mauve coloring with a subtle shimmery quality that becomes visible as you move the stone around beneath a bright light source. There is a bit of black and white here and there as well.
