This is a lovely banded piece of Green Calcite from Zacatecas, Mexico. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. I love the coloring and banding/stripes! This one also has some Iron/Hematite content mixed in (reddish brown), and I have heard some folks call this "Mint Chocolate Calcite" because of this. While much of it is smooth to the touch, there are small organic spots here and there as it is NOT polished. ALL inclusions present come from 100% natural formations in the stone.
It weighs about 5.6oz and measures about 2 1/2" inches long X 1 5/8" inches wide at the widest point X 1 3/4" inches thick at the thickest point. Code-082124-32

Green Calcite generally gets its vivid coloring from a high Chromium content
