I absolute LOVE Trona - check out the metaphysical properties below. One of my new favorites! It has a lovely combination of "sprays" and "rosettes", with peachy pinky tones and a bit of darker red on one area/corner. It has a lot of shimmer/sparkle to it as well. It's hard to accurately capture all the intricacies of this specimen in photos - much nicer 'in person', I guarantee it. It is delicate, coming in at 2.5 on the Mohs scale, so handle with care. It is natural for tiny pieces to flake/shed in the packaging during transit.
Trona is a naturally occurring mineral, mainly composed of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), sodium carbonate (soda ash), and water. In the US it is mined as the primary source of sodium carbonate (AKA washing soda, or soda ash). Soda ash is used in the manufacturing of glass, paper, detergent, and textiles. The name "Trona" comes from a Swedish term, which in turn was derived from the Arabic "natrum" or "native salt". Trona is a non-marine evaporite mineral, formed by the evaporation of water in inland brine lakes from the Paleogene Period (23-66 millions years ago). Non-marine evaporite minerals form in closed basins such as lakes, where the evaporation rate exceeds the water inflow. Evaporation then concentrates the minerals in the water, forming crystals. Trona is quite soft, measuring at about 2.5 on the Mohs scale. Pure Trona is about 30-36% sodium (salt) by mass. ALL inclusions present in this piece at 100% natural. It's much nicer 'in person' than the photos show, I guarantee it.
It weighs about 2.6oz and measures approximately 2 5/16" inches long X about 1 3/4" inches wide at the widest point X about 1 7/8" inches tall (varies a bit throughout). Code-012225-1
Trona is incredibly good for purification purposes and deflecting/dispersing negative energies. It can be used to connect with the Nature Spirit kingdom, and gently encourages us to take time to appreciate our surroundings or “stop and smell the roses”. It is a protective stone, and provides a stabilizing energy. It is useful in discouraging energy “vampires”.
In Crystal Healing, it has been used to assist with blood disorders, and mineral imbalances.
